Brassinosteroids are plant compounds that have the ability to stimulate the growth of plants. It has been shown to influence germination, rhizogenesis, flowering, senescence, abscission and maturation processes. The brassinosteroids also confer resistance to plants against abiotic and biotic stress, which is why they are considered as a new class of plant hormones with pleiotropic effects.

 

Recent discoveries of the physiological properties of brassinosteroids allow them to be considered as appropriate natural substances for their use towards the protection of plants and increase in agricultural production, among other characteristics.
